When is a hypo not a hypo? Hypoglycaemic symptoms at normal glucose levels in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes
Authors
Abstract
Hypoglycaemia is common in patients with diabetes. Symptomatic hypoglycaemia at normal glucose levels has been previously recognised, and can pose a major challenge to improving glycaemic control. We describe two cases of patients with type 2 diabetes, who suffered from frequent symptoms of hypoglycaemia at normal glucose levels, leading to over‐compensation with carbohydrate and poor glycaemic control. We describe how recognition of this phenomenon led to significant improvements in glycaemic control. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
