Practical diabetes international : past, present and future
Authors
Abstract
The 20th Anniversary of Practical Diabetes International is an opportunity to review the content of the journal over two decades. During this time there has been a marked change in emphasis from papers on type 1 diabetes, microvascular complications and devices for insulin injection and home blood glucose monitoring in the earlier issues, towards articles on type 2 diabetes, macrovascular disease and hypertension in more recent numbers. There has also been a change in emphasis from papers on education towards articles on quality and audit. Although the journal has a wide circulation among representatives of all of the professions who provide diabetes care, the non‐medical professions (nursing, dietetic and podiatric) and patients remain under‐represented as contributors.
