Hypertension in diabetes: what's new, what's true, what's next?
Authors
Abstract
Until recently, people with type 2 diabetes were excluded from hypertension trials and diabetes care ignored the importance of managing hypertension, instead focusing exclusively on glycaemia. However, recent large clinical trials have confirmed that tight blood pressure control is central to the management of type 2 diabetes and compares favourably with good glycaemic control. Here we review the evidence base that has emerged from these trials and consider the implications for improving the care of people with diabetes. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
