Musculoskeletal disease in diabetes
Authors
Abstract
The musculoskeletal complications of diabetes are frequently neglected in the clinical consultation. Hyperglycaemia, insulin levels and genetic variations have been implicated in the pathogenesis of skeletal abnormalities seen with diabetes. Several musculoskeletal conditions are seen almost exclusively with diabetes whilst others are seen more frequently. Links between the musculoskeletal and microvascular complications of diabetes have been suggested. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
