Abstract

We report the case of a 41‐year‐old man with type 1 diabetes who presented with scleredema diabeticorum.

Scleredema diabeticorum is an uncommon skin condition. It is a poorly known (recognised) complication of diabetes.

The aetiopathogenesis of the clinical condition is not well understood. No single form of treatment has been proven to be consistently beneficial. In most cases it is a self‐limiting, benign disease. Optimisation of metabolic control and physiotherapy are recommended for all cases. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons.
